Amador Capital Research
Investment Thesis
Amador (operating as Amador Holdings, amador.holdings) is a Latin America focused venture capital firm. Its website says it gives investors access to Spanish-speaking Latin America's best digital technology companies in financial services, mobility, logistics, e-commerce, healthcare, education and proptech. The firm describes itself as investing from early stage to growth stage, leaning on deep ecosystem relationships, a disciplined set of investment criteria, and close work with founders. In its December 2025 IDB Lab announcement, Amador describes a focus on fintech, software, consumer and digital health, and says it targets the "missing middle" of the startup ecosystem: companies with validated products and early revenue that need capital and support to scale.
Investment Criteria
The firm publishes eight criteria on its site:
- Digital-enabled business models: tech-enabled operations serving traditional sectors through low-friction interaction with the end customer.
- Compelling value proposition: a product that is a 10x better experience than the status quo.
- Blue-chip management team: mission-driven entrepreneurs and industry veterans with deep industry knowledge and operational focus.
- Massive market opportunity: a large addressable market with room to scale.
- Scalability and geographic expansion: ability to enter adjacent markets quickly and benefit from economies of scale.
- High barriers to entry and non-cash moat: network effects, scale economies, or other durable moats.
- Strong unit economics and cash flow driven: a prudent balance of profitability and growth.
- Risk-adjusted return: prudent entry valuation and a reasonable path to exit.
Stage Focus
Amador invests from pre-seed and seed through growth equity. Third-party data shows it leading pre-seed and seed rounds (Finnecto, Mutuus) and co-investing in later rounds (Fracttal growth equity, Cashea Series B). Its vehicles are split by stage: Amador Seed Fund I, Amador Growth Fund I, and the new Amador Seed Fund II. The firm's own site does not state check sizes, so none are recorded here.
Fund Status and Recent Activity
In December 2025 IDB Lab approved an investment of up to $3 million in Amador Seed Fund II, LP. The fund plans to back roughly 25 startups focused on software-based solutions, with emphasis on financial services, health, education and enterprise software, and will also evaluate logistics, mobility and real-estate technology. Seed capital and follow-on rounds are planned. Priority markets are Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Central America. The manager is based in Panama and Mexico, and says its prior funds invested in more than 30 startups across 11 Latin American and Caribbean countries. Recent co-investments include Cashea (Series B, June 2026), Fracttal (growth equity, January 2026), and Rintin's $6.2M round led by Cometa (August 2026, with Newtopia VC, Latin Leap, Amador Holdings and FJ Labs).
Lead Tendency
Both. Amador leads some pre-seed and seed rounds and frequently co-invests alongside regional funds such as Cometa, Latin Leap and Newtopia VC, as well as international funds such as FJ Labs.
