Bay Bridge Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Bay Bridge Ventures is an institutional climate tech venture capital firm based in Berkeley, CA. It invests in early-stage, disruptive technology startups addressing climate change, with a stated preference for proven, defensible technology and scalable, capital-efficient business models. The firm believes the most successful future companies will solve critical problems facing the environment and humanity, and that this will be accelerated by foundational technologies: AI and big data, advanced computing, sensors and IoT, high-bandwidth connectivity, energy storage, robotics, and synthetic biology. It uses a proprietary Impact Methodology that builds ESG and sustainability metrics into the investment process. Earlier messaging described a broader remit (climate tech, health innovation, inclusive capitalism); the current homepage frames the firm as climate-only.
Stage Focus
The site says early-stage, with the ability to follow on after the initial investment and access to large pools of growth-stage capital. The portfolio shows companies from seed through Series A (for example Exowatt, which raised a seed and a $70M Series A in 2025, and Apeiron Labs, which raised a $9.5M Series A). Third-party directories list Seed to Series B, which the firm's own site does not confirm.
Check Size
The firm does not publish a check size. Fund size is the only hard number: the Bay Bridge Ventures Climate Fund filed a Form D in April 2024 and TechCrunch reported a $200M raise (Apr 2024). AUM is not disclosed, so none is recorded.
Lead Tendency
Not stated. The firm lists Bay Bridge as an additional investor in Exowatt's November 2025 $50M extension, which was led by MVP Ventures and 8090 Industries. Lead tendency is recorded as unknown.

- The news page is sparse: a January 2023 advisor announcement and two 2022 articles. The firm appears to be actively deploying from the Climate Fund.
