Early Game Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Early Game Ventures (EGV) is an early-stage venture fund that leads rounds in European founders under the motto #LeadEarly. The firm describes its approach as contrarian by design: find people willing to put everything on the line to solve a painful problem, and back them no matter what. It targets smart people building tech and IP-driven companies, many at idea stage, before the business works and before the opportunity is obvious. Its stated credo favors proven commitment over polished CVs, radical transparency over diplomacy, and focus and intensity. EGV launched in 2017 and says its first fund became a top-percentile performer in Europe.
Stage Focus
- Pre-Seed, Seed and Series A, with a strong skew to the earliest rounds.
- Prefers to be the first institutional investor and to lead the round.
- Follows on in portfolio companies; Druid raised a Series C and BibleChat a Series A while in the portfolio.
Check Size
- Usual first ticket of 500K to 2M EUR.
- Total commitment per company of up to 6M EUR across rounds.
- Third-party profiles cite 500K to 3M EUR for Fund II.
Lead Tendency
The firm's own copy says it leads rounds. Founder quotes on the portfolio page describe EGV as the first fund to believe in them at idea stage. Lead tendency is set to leads.
Recent Activity
- Fund II is a roughly 60M EUR vehicle capitalized by the Recovery Equity Fund, managed by the European Investment Fund and financed through Romania's PNRR under Next Generation EU. It targets 25 to 30 companies from pre-seed to Series A.
- Fund I was funded mostly through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
- Recent homepage features: Kyndred (AI companions, 500K EUR pre-seed per the firm's social post), Tryll Engine (on-device AI for games), Orbital Matter (space manufacturing), Naratix (product data for agentic commerce), YOX (frontline worker hiring).
- Third-party trackers list Naratix as the latest Fund II investment in June 2026 and a 2.6M USD seed in Kinderpedia in February 2026. These are secondary sources and are not used as dated events here.
- Fund status is treated as actively deploying.

Decision Process
The site does not describe a decision process. Partners hold sector coverage areas, which points to a partnership model. This is an inference, so confidence is low. Founders pitch via the contact form on the website.
Founder Preferences
Founders who show proven commitment, intensity and a willingness to pivot repeatedly. The Tourists vs Immigrants essay on the insights page argues for founders who relocate to build their company as immigrants rather than tourists. The firm publishes a series of pitch deck guidance posts (cover slide, problem slide, solution slide).
Geographic Focus
Central and Eastern Europe plus the rest of Europe. Offices in Bucharest, Romania and The Hague, Netherlands. Portfolio is concentrated in Romania and CEE with some Western European companies.
Sector Breadth
The portfolio is broad: AI and enterprise software, DevTools, cybersecurity, fintech, consumer apps, edtech, healthtech, biotech, gaming, space, energy, mobility, agritech, proptech and hardware. The firm does not name a single sector thesis; it is stage and geography led.
