Green Generation Fund Research
Investment Thesis
Green Generation Fund (GGF) is a Berlin-based venture capital firm backing early-stage founders in food tech and energy tech. Its site describes the mandate as investing in the industries the world depends on: food, agriculture, energy and resources. The firm backs technologies that reshape these foundational sectors and combines capital with hands-on entrepreneurial support. It looks at sector convergence, investing where deep tech, AI and consumer and marketplace models meet.
The site lists three pillars. Deep Tech covers scientific breakthroughs and university spinouts across energy, space tech, robotics, and synthetic biology and chemistry. Artificial Intelligence covers founders using AI to solve urgent challenges across industries. Consumer and Marketplaces covers startups shaping new consumption patterns and unlocking transformative models in established industries, both B2C and B2B.
At launch in 2022 the fund was framed around the third wave of the plant-based food revolution: clean, functional plant proteins from fermentation, cell cultivation and new ingredients such as mushroom roots. It also named sustainable packaging, supply chains, carbon capture and greentech software as topics. The fund says it invests in startups with measurable progress on CO2 avoidance, circular economy, resource protection, health and biodiversity. Third-party profiles say it prizes strong IP, disruptive potential and deep founder passion.
