Healthier Capital Research
Investment Thesis
Healthier Capital is a health-tech venture firm founded by Amir Dan Rubin, the former CEO of One Medical (taken public in 2020, sold to Amazon for $3.9B in 2023). The firm says it partners with technology-powered healthcare innovators to advance healthier outcomes for all, and combines impactful innovation with significant value creation. Its thesis starts from the frustrations of each healthcare stakeholder: consumers want better access and experience, employers and payers want to cut medical inflation and waste, and providers face clinician burnout, workforce shortages and fragmented data. The firm backs companies that use AI and other technology to solve one of those concrete problems. Rubin's line is that people do not want to buy AI, they want to buy a solution to their problem.
Sector Focus
The portfolio clusters in three areas:
- AI for administrative and clinical workflow and infrastructure: Hyro (conversational AI agents), Qualified Health (generative AI infrastructure and governance), Suki (ambient clinical intelligence), Medeloop (autonomous research agents), TestDynamics (radiology AI orchestration)
- Tech-enabled care delivery: Daymark Health (cancer care coordination), Zarminali Pediatrics, Amae Health (severe mental illness), Octave (behavioral health), Loop Health (employer health insurance in India), Photon (digital pharmacy)
- Data, genomics and life sciences: Dandelion Health (multimodal clinical data), Diploid Genomics (AI-driven genomics, co-founded with J. Craig Venter), Salution Health (regulatory expertise plus AI)
Stage Focus
The firm describes itself as primarily early stage. Its recorded rounds run from seed (Qualified Health, 2025) through Series A leads (Daymark, Zarminali, Photon, Dandelion) to a Series E lead in Suki (October 2026). Disclosed round sizes for deals it led are mostly $14M to $110M. It also took a sole-external-investor seed position in Diploid Genomics. No official check size is published.
Check Size
Not disclosed. Fund 1 is $220M, closed January 2026, oversubscribed against a $150M target. Nine investments had been made at close, so checks are likely in the low-to-mid single-digit millions up to larger lead checks, but that is inference and is not recorded in the structured fields.
Lead Tendency
Both. Third-party tracking shows it leading about 58% of recorded rounds (single-lead and co-lead) and participating in the rest. Recent leads include Hyro, Daymark, Zarminali, Photon, Dandelion and Suki. It co-led and then participated in Qualified Health rounds.

Decision Process
Partnership. A four-partner group of operators decides together; Rubin is the public face and sits on boards (for example Medeloop). Diligence covers market size, differentiation, go-to-market, data and workflow integration (claims, EHR, benefits systems), execution, valuation and likely exit path, plus technical diligence on the AI.
Founder Preferences
Founders solving a named pain for health systems, payers, employers, clinicians or consumers, with a credible route to sale into the existing healthcare ecosystem. The firm positions its operator network (health systems, plans, benefit leaders, life sciences) as the main value-add beyond capital.
Geographic Focus
United States. All recorded deals are US-based, with one exception in the portfolio, Loop Health, which serves the employer market in India. The firm is based in the San Francisco Bay Area (Menlo Park per SEC filing).
