Investment Thesis

Kinetica Ventures is an Israeli early-stage venture fund that backs defense technology companies. Its site tagline is "Israel Embedded. Globally Connected." and it says it backs early-stage defense tech companies that harness Israel's innovation ecosystem to build the future of global security. Its brand line is "Force Multiplying Capital." The fund was founded in 2025 by Yoav Knoll, Aaron Applbaum and Frederic Landau. Knoll and Applbaum were senior executives at MizMaa Ventures. The thesis is that Israel's military-intelligence talent pipeline, combined with growing Western and Gulf demand for Israeli defense technology, makes a dedicated early-stage defense fund a strong position, and that US and European advisors can open global defense procurement to small companies.

Stage Focus

Pre-seed through Series A, according to Calcalist (June 2025) and Israel Defense. The fund also looks at dual-use companies that serve both defense and civilian markets, for example Limitless, which builds digital control systems for precision CNC manufacturing.

Check Size

Not disclosed on the site or in press. Checks are not stated, so none are set in the profile. Kinetica led or co-led rounds of $18M to $20M in several portfolio companies, but those totals are round sizes, not Kinetica's own checks.

Lead Tendency

Both. Kinetica is reported as leading the $18M Esh-Tech round (Jerusalem Post, July 2026), and it participated alongside 8VC, Q-Fund and 10D in the early Litevision round (Globes, February 2026).

Fund Status and Recent Activity

  • Calcalist reported in June 2025 that Kinetica was raising a $150M first fund. Globes repeated the $150M target in February 2026 and said the fund's investors include 8VC and institutional investors from Abraham Accords countries. No final close was found, so no AUM is recorded.
  • November 2025: strategic partnership with 8VC, the firm founded by Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale and an early Anduril backer.
  • December 2025: Germany-Israel defense technology cooperation agreement linked to Kinetica (TechTime).
  • February 2026: participated in Litevision, a drone camera startup, alongside 8VC (its first Israeli defense investment), Q-Fund and 10D.
  • June 2026: Limitless raised a $20M Series A.
  • July 2026: led an $18M round in Esh-Tech, an Israeli laser counter-drone company (DroneLight).
  • September 2026: PitchBook lists a latest investment in SpringAI. This is not confirmed by a primary source and is not included as an event.
  • October 2026: Limitless was named to the TechCrunch-linked Disruptors 60 AI list.

Portfolio Highlights

The site's portfolio section is a logo wall. The captioned read legibly named only Foundation Labs and ENHTECH, while the remaining logo images carried no readable captions. Press adds Line 5 (a $20M seed round, the largest global defense seed round of 2025 at the time, founded by Gigi Levy-Weiss and Redis cofounder Yiftach Shoolman), Particle (electronic warfare and air defense), Limitless (limitlesscnc.ai), Litevision and Esh-Tech. TheMarker named three Kinetica companies among the most interesting in May 2026. The portfolio list is therefore likely incomplete; several logos on the wall could not be read.

Team

  • Yitz Applbaum, Chairman. Cofounder of Opus Capital and MizMaa, and founder of the first Lightspeed branch in Israel.
  • Yoav Knoll, General Partner. Veteran of an elite Air Force unit; previously a senior executive at MizMaa.
  • Frederic Landau, General Partner. Cofounder.
  • Aaron Applbaum, General Partner. Previously at MizMaa Ventures.
  • Amit Kunik, Partner. Brig. Gen. (res.), former senior intelligence-corps commander.
  • Elliot Julis, Principal.
  • Veronika Pavlovich, Head of Investor Relations.
  • Press also names Maj. Gen. (res.) Saar Tzur, former IDF Northern Command head, as a partner; he is not on the current site team list, so he is not submitted as a team member.
  • Senior advisory board: Kenneth Braithwaite (former US Navy Secretary), Alex Moore (8VC partner, Palantir board), Lt. Gen. John Jansen, Adm. Giampaolo Di Paola, Norm Coleman (appointed Vice Chair of the Defense Policy Board, June 2026), Yoram Tietz, Enzo Vecciarelli.

Decision Process

A partnership of three general partners with a chairman and senior military and policy advisors. A formal process is not described publicly.

Founder Preferences

Founders with Israeli defense, intelligence or Air Force backgrounds, and teams building technology with a route to Western defense customers. Not stated in these words; inferred from the portfolio and from the partners' own backgrounds.

Geographic Focus

Israel first, with global go-to-market through US and European advisors and the 8VC partnership. Contact is by email to Elliot Julis.

Gaps

Headquarters location, check size, final fund size and the full portfolio list are not confirmed from primary sources.
