Litquidity Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Litquidity Ventures is the investing arm of Litquidity, a financial media and investment company founded in 2017 by Hank Medina, a former investment banker and private equity investor who started with Wall Street memes. The firm describes itself as investing in high-growth technology startups across diverse verticals, from early stage to pre-IPO. Its stated edge is distribution: an audience of more than 2.5 million across Instagram, X and the Exec Sum and Crypto Sum newsletters, plus a large professional and creator network. Founders get amplification as well as capital. The founder's 2025 year-end letter calls this an unfair advantage that gets the firm into rounds led by Tier 1 funds such as Sequoia, Founders Fund and a16z.
Sector Focus
The portfolio and the firm's own social profile point to five areas: fintech, AI, defense and space tech, sports, and consumer. Representative companies include Ramp, Stripe, Erebor and Autopilot in fintech; OpenAI, Perplexity, Replit, Factory and Blitzy in AI; Saronic, Forterra, Apptronik and Axiom Space in defense, robotics and space; and Sporttrade, Lucra, Polymarket and the New York Atlantics in sports and betting. There is also a consumer tail (beverages, apparel, DTC) that reflects the audience. The firm does not publish an anti-thesis.
Stage Focus
Crunchbase describes Pre-Seed, Seed and Series A investing, with selective later-stage private rounds. The 2025 letter confirms a mix of early-stage startups and hot late-stage rounds, done both directly and through secondaries.
Check Size
No check size range is published. The founder says he began with $5-10K angel checks about five years ago. The firm now reports over $30M deployed across 60+ investments, about $20M of it in 2025. Vehicles include Litquidity Ventures SPVs, LVP Fund I, Bain Capital Ventures scout checks and personal investments. The 2026 goal is to deploy $50M or more.
Lead Tendency
The firm mostly joins rounds led by larger funds and sometimes invests through SPVs. It is best read as a follower and strategic co-investor, not a lead. The portfolio page lists 8VC, Accel, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Khosla, Lightspeed, NEA, Sequoia, Valor and Y Combinator as co-investor logos.
Recent Activity
The letter lists 2025 investments in Forterra (defense autonomy), Harbinger Motors (medium-duty commercial EV chassis), Perplexity (AI answer engine) and Autopilot (trading app and RIA). The firm launched Litquidity strategies on Autopilot in December 2024. A Form D filed in February 2026 shows Litquidity Ventures Fund LLC raising a small series vehicle. A portfolio company, North, announced a $60M Series B in 2026. The firm is actively deploying.
Portfolio Highlights
The portfolio page shows about 84 company logos. These include OpenAI, Stripe, SpaceX, Ramp, Perplexity, Replit, Polymarket, Saronic, Apptronik, X-Energy, Paradromics, Erebor, Harbinger Motors, Forterra, Axiom Space, Natilus and beehiiv. Many of these are late-stage or secondary positions, not early-stage leads.
Team
- Hank Medina, Founder: former investment banker and PE investor, founder of Litquidity and sole visible decision-maker of Litquidity Ventures ([email protected]).
- Olivia Curry: head of partnerships at Litquidity (named in the year-end letter; not an investing partner).
Decision Process
The structure looks like a solo-GP operation. The founder says he vets deals the way he vets media partners: product quality, founder integrity and audience relevance. Founders can pitch through a form on the investments page, and accredited investors and qualified purchasers can join the syndicate.
Founder Preferences
The firm wants visionary founders disrupting the status quo. It likes founders who are reachable through social networks, and those who value media distribution and community. Defense, AI and fintech founders are most represented.
Geographic Focus
The firm is based in Miami and New York, with team presence in Los Angeles and London. Deals are mostly US-based and sourced through the founder's network.
