Mercuri Research
Investment Thesis
Mercuri is a London-based early-stage venture fund investing at the intersection of media, entertainment and AI. It defines media technology broadly: any product with a clear role on the content and data value chain, the infrastructure through which content and data is created, distributed, consumed and monetised. The firm's stated view is that media and entertainment are early adopters of frontier technology, and that tools built there often scale well beyond media.
Mercuri follows two paths: companies operating directly within the content and data value chain, and frontier-technology companies (generative AI, agentic AI, voice AI, AI inference compute, embodied AI, selective web3) whose products originate in media but scale across industries.
Sector Focus
Across the value chain, the firm lists these areas:
- Creation: generative AI, NLP, computer vision, audio and speech synthesis, gaming and game engines, music technology, creator economy, XR and immersive, synthetic data, developer tools.
- Distribution and discovery: search and GEO, next-generation advertising, retail media, MarTech, world models, vertical agent networks.
- Consumption: future of work, collaboration, EdTech, information services, data dashboards, AI upskilling.
- Monetisation: AdTech, licensing, live experiences, retail and commerce optimisation, live shopping.
- Infrastructure: AI inference compute, data moats, optimisation, embodied AI.
