Monday Capital Research
Investment Thesis
Monday Capital's own site is a single page. It says the firm backs "founders who dare to imagine bold futures and possess the know-how to transform their visions into reality," and that the companies it likes most "challenge our perspectives and show us fresh possibilities for tomorrow." The page lists three labels: where it invests (Everywhere), what it likes (Moonshots) and what stage (First check). There is no team page, portfolio page or contact detail on the site.
Third-party profiles (LinkedIn company page, AskForFunding, Hopohopo, Life Science Nation, Silicon Valley Investclub) describe the firm as a fund built by engineers that invests in breakthrough technologies in longevity and biotech, machine learning and blockchain infrastructure. Its earliest public activity, from 2019 to 2021, was almost entirely crypto and blockchain infrastructure.
Stage Focus
The site states a first-check posture. Aggregators list Seed and Series A, with some pre-seed and seed activity visible in press coverage. Evidence for stage is thin and mostly from secondary directories.
Check Size
Hopohopo lists a first ticket of roughly $250K to $3M. This comes from a single aggregator and is low confidence. The firm does not publish check sizes.
Lead Tendency
Public rounds show Monday Capital mostly as a participant alongside other investors: Vega's $5M seed (2019), a Zero Hash round (2020), Cere Network (2020), Sovryn, TravelX, Flyway (2022, listed among lead investors with Signal Ventures and GroupRMC) and, most recently, Loops' $3.5M seed in October 2026 led by a16z speedrun. It is treated as unknown lead tendency, leaning follow or co-invest.
Recent Activity
- October 2026: participated in Loops' $3.5M seed round (agentic commerce AI), led by a16z speedrun, with NTT Docomo, Connecticut Innovations and Alumni Ventures.
- November 2019: with RootstockLabs, announced the first round of investments from the RSK Ecosystem Fund, which Monday Capital managed (Vega, Multis, Pocket Network).
- The firm shows a sustained, low-volume pattern of participation rather than a published fund cycle. No fund size or close has been announced.
Portfolio Highlights
- Zero Hash (crypto and settlement infrastructure; Series D in 2025 at a reported $1B valuation, Monday Capital an early investor)
- Vega (decentralized derivatives protocol)
- Multis (business banking for crypto)
- Pocket Network (blockchain node middleware)
- Cere Network (decentralized data cloud)
- Loops (AI commerce platform)
- Sovryn, TravelX, Flyway and EclipseFi appear in third-party round listings
The portfolio list is assembled from press and aggregator sources. It is not a firm-published list.
Team
- Katerina Stroponiati, Founding Partner: co-founded Monday Capital and ran its RSK Ecosystem Fund; former co-founder and CEO of Sunshine (a weather data company); CEO of Bitcoin Innovation Studio; founder of Brilliant Minds, a separate early-stage fund for founders over 50. Some profiles say she co-founded Monday Capital and now runs Brilliant Minds, and her own site describes Monday Capital as her family office.
No other named investors are published. A LinkedIn page for a London firm, "Monday Capital" at monday-capital.com, is a different company and was ignored.
Decision Process
Not published. With one named partner and a family-office description on her own site, decisions are likely made by a single partner. This is an inference and is recorded as unknown.
Founder Preferences
Technical founders with deep domain expertise and bold, paradigm-challenging ideas. Hopohopo's approach guidance emphasizes technical edge plus a credible path to market. Her related fund Brilliant Minds targets older founders, which signals openness to non-traditional founder profiles.
Geographic Focus
The site says everywhere. Headquarters is most often listed as New York (PitchBook, AskForFunding, Life Science Nation), with some listings showing San Francisco. Past activity spans the US, Europe and global crypto ecosystems.
Gaps and Uncertainties
The site has no portfolio, team or contact pages. Fund size, AUM, check size and decision process are unverified. Crunchbase and PitchBook were blocked by anti-bot checks and not read directly.
