PROfounders Capital Research
Investment Thesis
PROfounders Capital is a pan-European, early-stage technology venture fund founded in London in 2009. Its stated thesis is "we back the fixers": the firm looks for founders solving broken customer experiences through disruptive, technology-enabled B2B and B2C products, primarily software-led. The firm was itself founded by a group of successful entrepreneurs (including Bebo founder Michael Birch and Oakley Capital's Peter Dubens), and it leans on that founder network both as a source of capital (Investment Partners) and as an operational support layer for portfolio companies. PROfounders explicitly frames venture capital as "more than money" -- its pitch to founders centers on honest, high-conviction partnership rather than passive capital deployment.
Sector Focus
The firm organizes its portfolio around customer-experience "problems fixed" rather than rigid verticals, which in practice spans: gaming and interactive entertainment, travel and hospitality booking, consumer social and communication apps, HR tech and workforce operations, healthtech and mental wellbeing, edtech, proptech, legal tech, climate/carbon and clean energy software, and horizontal enterprise software (fintech-adjacent finance tooling, AI-driven sales and QA tooling, low-code developer tools). Recent portfolio activity shows a clear tilt toward applied AI: AI workforce operations (Kinfolk), AI code agents (cto.new), AI sales assistants (FrontNow), AI QA engineers (QA.tech), and AI-driven energy forecasting (Capalo AI).
Stage Focus
PROfounders invests at early stage -- teams with a working product and early customer validation, typically Seed. The firm both leads and follows: it has led or co-led seed rounds (e.g., QA.tech, Qneiform) and also participated as a syndicate member behind another lead (e.g., Kinfolk, led by AlbionVC).
Check Size
Per the firm's own "Approach" page, PROfounders invests an initial €500k to €3m, as lead investor or as part of a syndicate.
Lead Tendency
Mixed ("both"). The firm has led rounds (QA.tech's €3M seed, Qneiform's €3M seed co-led with DayOne Capital) and has also joined as a participating investor alongside a different lead (Kinfolk's $7.2M seed, led by AlbionVC).
Recent Activity
- February 2026: Participated in Kinfolk's $7.2M seed round (AI workforce operations platform), led by AlbionVC, alongside Ascension and Emerge.
- March 2025: Co-led Qneiform's €3M seed round (AI-powered talent/HR intelligence platform, Budapest) with DayOne Capital, alongside existing investors Keen Ventures and Dutch Founders Fund.
- May 2024: Led QA.tech's €3M seed round (AI-based automated software QA testing, Sweden), with Curiosity VC and byFounders.
Third-party trackers (Uppstart) list the firm's current fund at approximately €100M with roughly 8 investments per year, consistent with an actively deploying early-stage fund.

Decision Process
Partnership-based, with three named Partners plus an Associate and country-level "PROmoters" who source deals in Finland, the Netherlands, and Italy -- indicating deliberate coverage of continental Europe beyond the UK home base.
Founder Preferences
The firm evaluates on team (technical ability, strategic vision, attention to detail), a disruptive value proposition with healthy unit economics, large addressable market, early traction/product-market fit signals, ESG/sustainability orientation, and a credible plan and runway to the next raise. The firm states it meets thousands of companies a year but only invests in 6-8, signaling high selectivity and a "all-in" conviction-based approach once committed.
Geographic Focus
Pan-European, with a strong home bias toward the UK plus consistent activity in the Nordics (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland), DACH (Germany), Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium), and Southern/Central Europe (Spain, France, Poland, Hungary). Registered office at 60 Sloane Avenue, London SW3 3DD; authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA number 997987).
