Drogue is developing the world’s first offshore floating data centers and a new class of ocean-deployed infrastructure
Drogue is developing the world’s first offshore floating data centers and a new class of ocean-deployed infrastructure. Its systems are designed to generate their own power, recover waste heat, withstand severe weather, and operate autonomously. The company aims to industrialize the ocean and scale AI inference by rethinking how electricity is generated and used, starting with data centers and other energy-intensive computing workloads.
The critical issue lies in data center power gridlock, with heightened demand from AI and long wait times for grid interconnections, exacerbated by increasing global power demands and failures of traditional methods like OTEC over the past 140 years.
Drogue proposes using OTEC on floating, untethered, semi-submersible platforms to provide baseload electricity, with integrated infrastructure for data center cooling, desalination, and satellite ground stations to enhance efficiency and viability.
