Around 800,000 UK higher rate taxpayers are owed money by HMRC and don't know it
Around 800,000 UK higher rate taxpayers are owed money by HMRC and don't know it. We find it and help them get it back. If you pay into a workplace or personal pension on a "relief at source" scheme, your provider automatically claims 20% tax relief on your behalf. But if you're a higher or additional rate taxpayer, the extra 20-25% isn't automatic you have to claim it yourself. Most people never do, usually because nobody told them the rule exists, and it's fiddly to do. HMRC's own figures put the average unclaimed at roughly 1,756 a year, and you can go back four tax years. TEKKA works out whether you're affected, gets the contribution history from your pension provider, and files the claim for you. No recovery, no fee. If we do recover money, we take 10%. You can do all of this yourself, free, directly with HMRC and plenty of people should. We're for everyone who won't: because they don't know the rule exists, don't know which scheme they're on, or don't want to reopen four years of Self Assessment. Or just don't want the hassle.
