The Fourth Cat develops one-of-one rugs and ceramics with cooperatives, studios and family workshops in Morocco and Tunisia, and brings them to the London market. We work close to the making. That means spending time in workshops, learning how each piece is made, understanding the materials and economics behind it, and developing pieces together with the people who make them. A rug may be adjusted to the proportions of a London room. A palette may be refined. A ceramic form may be finished differently. The aim is not to smooth away where the work comes from, but to let that specificity travel. We document the place, materials, technique and process behind each piece because provenance is part of quality. A claim should be something the object itself can prove. The Fourth Cat is built around a simple idea: craft is not something to preserve in the past. It is work being made now, by people working now, for rooms lived in now. Craft that lives.
