53 Stations Research
Investment Thesis
53 Stations is a Chicago-based early-stage venture firm backed solely by The Pritzker Organization (TPO), the Pritzker family office whose operating companies include Hyatt, Lithko, STV, Steward Partners, Epic Staffing Group and KBP Foods. The firm describes itself as less a traditional VC and more a "whatever-it-takes" service provider. Its thesis is that the best opportunities sit where technology meets highly regulated, tech-laggard industries, at the intersection of early-stage venture and legacy enterprise. It invests in TPO-aligned sectors: the built world (construction, infrastructure, energy), healthcare and life sciences, and wealth management and financial software. The pitch to founders is access: TPO portfolio executives act as advisors and potential customers, and the firm runs a Wayfinders network of operators and experts.
Stage Focus
Seed to Series B, with the portfolio showing a mix of pre-seed co-leads (Kaya AI), Series A leads (ConCntric), Series B leads (Labviva) and participation in later rounds (Meter Series C, Range Series C, Flex Series B1). The firm says it can support companies from earliest growth through IPO.
Check Size
At launch (November 2023) the firm said it writes initial checks of $1M to $10M from seed to Series B. Third-party databases list roughly $2M to $7M. We store $1M to $10M as the stated range.
Lead Tendency
Both. The firm states it leads and co-invests. Recent examples: led Labviva's $25M Series B and ConCntric's $10M Series A, co-led Kaya AI's $5.3M pre-seed, and participated in Meter, Ketryx, Range, Antares and Flex rounds led by others.
Recent Activity

Founder Preferences
Exceptional founders and leadership teams above all, with vision and discipline for long-term responsible growth and profitability. In the Flex announcement the firm cites repeat-founder track record, deep customer understanding and market scale. Founders who benefit from enterprise customer access in the built world, healthcare and finance are a natural fit.
