Albo Research
Investment Thesis
Albo is a small, French impact-focused fund that backs entrepreneurs building solutions to environmental and social problems. Its manifesto says it was born from "an awareness of our impact and collective responsibility" and that it aims to "improve our impact on living things". The fund identifies transformation levers, supports entrepreneurs working on them, and, where no structure exists yet, launches the first structures itself. Impact is meant to sit inside the business model, not beside it. The homepage also says Albo backs founders early and stays when it gets hard.
Origins and Team
Albo took root in 2024 out of the meeting between Clément Alteresco and Benjamin Bouquet, who were building workplaces of tomorrow at Morning, the flexible workspace group. Morning was their first "living laboratory" and shaped the idea that changing physical spaces can change organizations.
- Clément Alteresco: repeat entrepreneur with 20+ years of experience. Founder and CEO of Morning and Climate House. Previously founded Digitick and was an associate at Fabernovel.
- Benjamin Bouquet: operator partner. About ten years inside the Morning Group, formerly Product Manager, then COO and CEO of Rayon (a Morning Group company).
The team is deliberately small and agile. Albo trades as "Albo Club", which suggests a club or syndicate-style structure, but the site does not describe the legal vehicle or the LP base.
Stage Focus
Albo writes early checks and says it has deployed since 2024. Its own tagline is "Power for visionaries". Several portfolio entries are venture studios (Hexa, Marble, You.switch) where Albo is an early backer, which fits a pre-seed and seed profile. No stage is stated explicitly on the site, so stage preferences are inferred from check size and portfolio.
Check Size
The site states checks of 25 to 300 thousand euros. It reports roughly 5 million euros deployed since 2024 and 40+ companies backed. The currency is euros; the stored figures are the same numbers without conversion.
Lead Tendency
Not stated. The checks are small and the portfolio includes venture studios and later companies such as Back Market, Wandercraft and AZmed, which points to participation alongside larger leads for the more mature names. Lead tendency is left unknown.
Portfolio Highlights
The portfolio page lists 40 companies, mostly French. Themes:
- Circular economy and re-commerce: Back Market (refurbished tech), Reekom, Redesk (refurbished office furniture), Loewi (refurbished e-bikes), Losanje (upcycled clothing), ACT Running.
- Agriculture and food: Hectarea (farmland investing from 500 EUR), CarbonFarm, Beyond Green, Cockpit Agriculture, Genomines, The Fat Broccoli, La vie de quartier.
- Health and care: Wandercraft (exoskeletons), Ziwig (saliva endometriosis test), Resilience (remote oncology care), AZmed (AI radiology), Jeen, Auxicare, Tango.
- Real estate and construction: Parallel Invest, Sezame, Les constructeurs du bois, Rewatt, Upcyclea, Eben Home.
- Climate software and finance: Goodvest, Keenest, Waro, Versant, Komeet, Ouisub, RGOODS, RegenSchool.
- Venture studios: Hexa, Marble, You.switch.
Third-party data (Caplight) lists RGOODS as an April 2023 early investment with Albo as co-investor, which predates the stated 2024 founding, likely from Albo's founders investing earlier.
Recent Activity
No dated deal announcements were found beyond the portfolio list, so the fund is treated as actively deploying on the basis of its "40+ companies" claim and a 2025 site copyright. No new fund close was found.
Decision Process
Not disclosed. With two partners, it is likely a small partnership decision. Founders can send a deck through the site, email [email protected], or message on WhatsApp, so warm intros do not look required.
Founder Preferences
Entrepreneurs and builders whose product addresses a climate, circularity, health or social problem with a real business model, who want an early partner that stays through hard periods. Operator experience from the Morning Group is part of the pitch.
Geographic Focus
France first. Nearly all portfolio companies are French (Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Caen), and the website is mostly in English with French portfolio descriptions. Some portfolio companies operate across Europe (Back Market in 17 countries).
