Aliyah Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Aliyah Ventures is a Tel Aviv-based pre-seed fund founded in 2026 by former McKinsey executive Ron Alpar. It backs only immigrant founders (olim) who build technology companies from Israel. The thesis is an arbitrage: roughly 60% of U.S. unicorns have immigrant founders, while fewer than 5% of Israeli unicorns were founded by people who arrived after military age. The firm argues that language barriers, thinner local networks and no army background cause Israeli VCs to undervalue these founders, and that global networks, native English and commercial skill are real advantages. It also argues that AI lowers the technical barrier to building an MVP, so commercial excellence matters more.
Stage Focus
Pre-seed and seed, with selective follow-on funding for portfolio companies as they grow. The portfolio page shows two pre-seed companies and one company that has since raised a Series A.
Check Size
$250,000 to $500,000 per company, according to the firm's site and coverage in Dealroom and The Jerusalem Post.
Lead Tendency
Unknown. The sources do not say whether it leads rounds. Its checks are small and it writes the first check in several companies, but no source states a lead or follow policy.
Recent Activity
The fund emerged from stealth in October 2026 (Ynet, Jerusalem Post, Dealroom). It targets a portfolio of 30 to 40 companies, which implies active deployment. It is backed by family offices and investors from firms such as Google and Blackstone, per social posts covering the launch. Its partner network is reported to include Google, AWS and WeWork.

Team
- Ron Alpar: founder, former McKinsey executive. The fund is run by a small, focused team. No other partners are named on the public site.
Decision Process
The site promises quick decisions and personal review of every application. The structure appears to be a small team, close to a solo GP, but this is not stated.
Founder Preferences
Immigrant founders (olim) building in Israel. No elite army unit or Israeli network is required. The firm values founder-market fit, large markets, smart distribution and fast monetization. Examples of what it cites: a founder who knew European payments from hospitality and fintech work; a former Meta news intelligence analyst; an ex-Tezos founder.
Beyond Capital
It offers help with Israeli government grants and tax benefits, co-working space, business Hebrew lessons, a community of immigrant founders, a concierge for bureaucracy and banking, and introductions to the global Jewish business community.
Geographic Focus
Israel only, with a global-market orientation. Founders come from the Netherlands, the United States, Argentina and elsewhere, and relocate to Israel.
Gaps
Fund size and AUM are not disclosed. Co-investors, lead tendency and other partners are not public. Portfolio companies and their stages come from the firm's own portfolio page.
