Arkam Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Arkam Ventures is a Bengaluru-based, early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2020/2021 by Rahul Chandra (formerly co-founder and Managing Director at Helion Venture Partners) and Bala Srinivasa (formerly Partner at Kalaari Capital, and an operator with roles at Amba Research and Vistaar Technologies). The firm's thesis is built around "Middle India": the roughly 400 million Indians beyond the top 50 million most startups historically targeted. Arkam backs founders who use technology to remove friction in consumption, productivity, and access to formal financial and commercial systems for this segment. The firm describes itself as "Focused. Early. All In." — sector-agnostic in mandate but philosophically tight around a single question: where does friction still block consumption, productivity, or scale for hundreds of millions of Indians?
Sector Focus
Arkam's site groups its lens into: Consumer AI, Enterprise AI, Fintech, Deeptech, Manufacturing, and Cleantech. In practice the portfolio skews heavily fintech (KreditBee, Jar, Smallcase, TransBnk/TBX, Wint Wealth, Signzy, Mudrex, Jai Kisan), with a growing cluster of manufacturing/deeptech hardware bets (Mirana Toys, Karkhana, Chara Technologies, Optimist, KühlTherm, Skyroot Aerospace) and an expanding AI/SaaS bucket (Ringg AI, Vaya, Hyperbots, Binocs, SpotDraft, Fyno, Cusmat, Trential, BestDoc).
Stage Focus
The firm invests from Seed through Series B, with the bulk of activity concentrated at Pre-Series A and Series A. It aims to be an early institutional partner and typically leads or co-leads.
Check Size
Checks range $1M–$5M per the firm's own site copy; a February 2026 ET B2B feature quotes managing director Bala Srinivasa citing a $1–4M typical range for pre-Series A/Series A deals.
Lead Tendency
Leads or co-leads. The firm states it backs no more than 6–8 companies a year out of roughly 1,000 reviewed, reflecting a highly selective, high-conviction, concentrated portfolio construction approach.
Recent Activity
Arkam is actively deploying. Notable recent activity: led Ringg AI's initial backing in January 2026, with Ringg AI going on to raise a $10M Series A extension in August 2026 led by Peak XV Partners (Arkam participated alongside Capital 2b). Arkam also backed KühlTherm, an Indian data-center liquid-cooling deep-tech company, publishing a detailed investment-thesis essay in July 2026 explaining the seed-stage conviction (data-center PUE inefficiency in India, China+1 sourcing dynamics, and a founding team spanning technology, manufacturing, market and software). Skyroot Aerospace, an Arkam portfolio company, completed India's first private orbital rocket launch (Mission Aagaman, Vikram-1) in July 2026.
Portfolio Highlights
Notable names include KreditBee (Arkam's first investment; scaled lending to 98% of India's PIN codes, ~$400M revenue in under six years), Jar, Smallcase, Skyroot Aerospace (India's first private orbital-class rocket company), SpotDraft (AI contract management, winning 7 of 10 competitive deals against well-funded US incumbents), Jumbotail (B2B food & grocery marketplace), Wint Wealth, Signzy, Mudrex, and TBX (formerly Transbnk, B2B transaction banking infrastructure). Total AUM is reported at roughly $286M across two funds, with Fund II targeting $180M (announced June 2023).

Founder Preferences
Arkam explicitly looks for "product thinkers," "execution fanatics," "fire fighters" (founders who personally felt the friction they're solving), and "fearless outliers" — often people who are not from the industry they're disrupting. The firm emphasizes lived insight over borrowed frameworks and self-belief as a differentiating founder trait. It runs a "Limitless" program engaging Gen Z cohorts and student communities to stay close to shifting consumption behavior.
