DMTech (Data Mining Technologies) Research
Investment Thesis
Data Mining Technologies (DMTech) is a data-driven early-stage venture fund based in Limassol, Cyprus and London. It describes itself as a firm of former builders with backgrounds in finance, engineering and asset management, investing in founders who tackle complex technical problems with real-world impact. The pitch is "ex-operators, deep insights, data-first investing": the team cites more than 20 years in asset management, more than 10 years operating data centers, more than 10 years in financial and risk infrastructure, and deep roots in HPC, distributed machine learning and the silicon ecosystem.
Its primary focus is FinTech and DeepTech, where it says it has hands-on operating experience. It also invests across data centers, energy transition and storage, asset-backed finance, computer vision for industry and robots, HPC and custom silicon, robotics and real-world AI, industrial water treatment and desalination, asset management tools, multi-family-office tools, and new energy and decarbonization.
Sourcing Approach
DMTech says it does not wait for deals. It parses more than 1,500 sources, from scientific forums to LinkedIn signals, to find overlooked opportunities, and it runs its own data center. This is the data-driven part of the brand and the main way it differentiates from generalist angels.
Stage Focus
The fund is early stage and angel-style: founders-first investments made with speed and conviction. Stage is not stated explicitly on the site; the portfolio and check sizes point to pre-seed and seed.
Check Size
Initial checks are $50K to $100K. The fund says it can reach up to $1.5M per deal by assembling syndicates, and it runs an "ongoing deals and syndicates" section inviting others to co-invest (currently BloodGPT and Stackt).
Lead Tendency
Small initial checks plus syndicate building suggest DMTech often anchors a deal and brings co-investors, but the site does not say it leads rounds. Lead tendency is recorded as unknown.
Recent Activity and Fund Status
The site lists 24 deals across three vehicles: DMTech VC Fund I (invested), Fund II (invested) and Fund III (active). Cyprus registry data shows DMTECH DATA DRIVEN VENTURES III LTD incorporated in Limassol on 6 March 2025. The firm also runs a sister vehicle, DMTech Credit Fund, offering structured credit to its VC-backed portfolio. Fund III is actively deploying. No dated press announcements of individual investments were found, so no activity events are recorded.

Founder Preferences
The fund backs founders with "resilience, clarity, and the courage to build where others hesitate" and teams that "don't follow trends, they create them." It favors technical founders on hard problems over consumer-trend plays.
