Endeavor Catalyst Research
Investment Thesis
Endeavor Catalyst is the rules-based, co-investment fund of Endeavor, the global nonprofit network that identifies and supports "High-Impact Entrepreneurs" across 50+ markets. Unlike a traditional VC, Catalyst does not source or select its own deals: it invests exclusively in companies led by founders who have already been vetted and admitted into the Endeavor network (a rigorous, peer-reviewed selection process run by Endeavor's local offices worldwide). The fund exists to generate financial returns for its LPs while also helping make Endeavor financially self-sustaining, aligning the nonprofit's mission with a for-profit capital vehicle.
Because eligibility is gated by Endeavor network membership rather than by direct outbound sourcing, Catalyst's "thesis" is really a rules-based mandate: back Endeavor Entrepreneurs' companies once they have already attracted a qualified institutional round.
Sector Focus
Catalyst is explicitly sector-agnostic. Because it invests behind whichever Endeavor Entrepreneurs raise qualifying rounds, its 400+ investments span nearly every category: fintech and payments (Bitso, Clip, dLocal, Checkout.com, Tabby, Tamara), e-commerce and marketplaces (Rappi, Kavak, Carro, Carsome, Cornershop), enterprise software and HR tech (JumpCloud, Salesloft, Factorial, Oyster HR, Booksy, Buk), proptech (Loft, Habi), logistics (Nowports), healthcare (Everside Health, SonderMind), and AI/consumer (ElevenLabs, Kopi Kenangan, Fever).
Stage Focus
Catalyst co-invests passively once an Endeavor Entrepreneur's company has raised a qualified institutional round of $5M or more. In practice this spans Series A through Series D+ and select growth rounds; it does not do pre-seed or true seed investing, and does not typically re-enter at IPO.
Check Size
The fund has not publicly disclosed a fixed check-size band; it deploys as one of several co-investors in rounds of $5M+, with total deployment scaling with round size and fund capacity. Not confidently extractable from public sources, so left unset here rather than guessed.
Lead Tendency
Catalyst never leads. It is explicitly structured as a passive co-investor: it does not lead rounds, does not set terms, and does not take board seats. It rides alongside a lead investor (frequently firms like Accel, General Atlantic, NEA, Sequoia, Tiger Global, Prosus, and QED) once terms are already set.
Recent Activity
- Fund IV closed in July 2022 at $292M, the largest Endeavor Catalyst fund to date at the time.
- As of June 2025, Endeavor Catalyst was in early fundraising for Fund V, targeting $300M, with LPs including family offices, development finance institutions, and prominent individuals (Bill Ford, Bill Ackman, Michael Dell), and roughly 30% of LPs being Endeavor entrepreneurs themselves.
- Current public figures (2026) put the fund at $540M+ AUM across four closed funds, 400+ total investments, and 35+ markets.
- Recent (2024-2026) investments span RemotePass (UAE, HR/fintech, Series A, March 2024), Asaas (Brazil fintech, 2024), Booksy (Poland, scheduling SaaS, 2024), Buk (Chile, HR tech, 2024), ASTRO (Indonesia, grocery delivery, 2025), Alpaca (Japan, fintech, 2025), and Biorce (Portugal, clinical trials AI, 2026).
Portfolio Highlights
Catalyst's portfolio includes 68+ companies valued at $1B+, with 12+ public listings (dLocal on NASDAQ, VTEX on NYSE, Globant on NYSE) and 37+ exits to date. Notable unicorns and near-unicorns span Latin America (Rappi, Bitso, Kavak, Creditas, Ebanx, Neon, Loft, Hotmart, Olist), the Middle East (Checkout.com, Careem, Property Finder, Kitopi, Tabby, Tamara), Africa (Flutterwave, Moniepoint, MNT-Halan), Southeast Asia (Carro, Carsome, Kredivo, Kopi Kenangan), Turkey (Insider, Papara, Peak Games — acquired), and Europe (Bending Spoons, ElevenLabs, Payhawk, Satispay, Factorial). Decision Process
Catalyst describes itself as "rules-based" — investment decisions follow a defined, largely mechanical mandate (any qualifying Endeavor Entrepreneur company raising a $5M+ institutional round is eligible) rather than a discretionary partnership vote on each individual deal. Given the closest available category, this maps to an investment-committee-style process layered on top of the network-eligibility rule.
Founder Preferences
Catalyst does not select founders directly — that screening happens upstream, through Endeavor's global entrepreneur-selection process (peer panels across 50+ markets). By the time a company is eligible for Catalyst capital, its founder has already been vetted as a "High-Impact Entrepreneur." Catalyst's only additional filter is that the company must have already closed a qualified institutional round of $5M+.
Geographic Focus
Global emerging and underserved venture ecosystems: Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina), the Middle East and North Africa (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt), Sub-Saharan Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya), and Southeast/South Asia (Indonesia, Singapore, Japan), plus selective Southern/Eastern Europe (Spain, Italy, Poland, Greece, Bulgaria). It explicitly avoids concentrating in Silicon Valley, positioning itself around founders building from "Elsewhere."
