Evertrue Capital Research
Investment Thesis
Evertrue is a pre-seed fund that backs founders before consensus forms. Its site frames the thesis around the gap between what a founder has already proven and what they are capable of becoming. The strongest signals at the earliest stage rarely arrive fully formed: the market may look too niche, the insight may not be clear, and the founder may not match the pattern that came before. Evertrue says the evidence is there for anyone who knows where to look. Since the debut fund closed in November 2026, press coverage describes the focus as AI and frontier technology, with fintech also named in earlier coverage. The firm's own FAQ says it is thesis-aware but founder-first and open to exceptional companies across sectors where technology, timing and founder insight create outsized outcomes.
Founder Preferences
Evertrue backs founders with something to prove: people who have climbed a steep slope to get where they are, see what others have missed, and have the conviction to build around it. It describes them as treating building as their life's work, combining ambition with disciplined execution, and able to persuade exceptional people to join them. They are often solving hard problems in markets that look unsexy. The firm stresses proximity to the problem (deep problem expertise) and is comfortable with founders who do not fit a familiar pattern. It says it often speaks to founders while they are still employed, exploring an idea or looking for a co-founder, and invests before a product or revenue exists. Its homepage says it invests predominantly in founders with European roots.
Stage Focus
Pre-seed. The FAQ says Evertrue invests at the idea stage, pre-product, pre-revenue, at MVP, or in the first institutional round. The portfolio company Revion described Evertrue as its first cheque, from day zero.
Check Size
The homepage states 250k to 500k GBP at pre-seed. The FAQ states 150k to 500k USD per round. Cheque size depends on stage, round size, ownership opportunity and where the firm can help most. The firm is building a concentrated portfolio and moves quickly when convinced.
Lead Tendency
The FAQ says it can lead, co-lead or join alongside other high-quality investors. The fund announcement says Evertrue will lead a concentrated number of investments each year. Lead tendency is recorded as both.
Fund and Recent Activity
Evertrue closed an oversubscribed $17M debut fund (reported 3 November 2026 by TechCrunch and others). It targets at least 20 pre-seed AI and technology startups across the UK and Europe over three years. By the announcement it had already invested in seven companies. Four are named: Revion (agentic AI for the automotive sector, YC-backed), Poindexter Labs (an AI capability and efficiency lab), Zuba (fintech infrastructure for global businesses) and Zaro (a shared knowledge layer for enterprises). Half the portfolio had already launched operations in the US. The fund is actively deploying.
Fund Backers
LPs named in the announcement are Phoenix Court through its Basecamp fund of funds, the British Business Bank, Better Society Capital, Bootstrap 4F (Invest in Women Taskforce) and Allocator One, plus founders, operators and GPs from Evertrue's network. The network is described as 50+ operators and former founders from Anthropic, Revolut, J.P. Morgan and others, who give hands-on support, especially between pre-seed and Seed.
Portfolio Highlights
The firm's site has no portfolio page (/portfolio returns 404) and no portfolio logos. Portfolio names come from press coverage only. Yvonne Bajela's earlier personal investment record, from her time at Phoenix Court, includes Wise, Moove, Marshmallow and Flutterwave. Those are not Evertrue fund investments and are not recorded as portfolio companies.
Team
- Yvonne Bajela, Founder and General Partner: Previously a Partner at Phoenix Court (home of LocalGlobe and Latitude). More than a decade of backing early companies across Europe, Africa and Asia. Born in London with Ghanaian roots. Writes on Substack.
The team page lists only Bajela. The firm operates from London and San Francisco.
Decision Process
Solo GP: Bajela makes the investment decisions, supported by an informal network of operators. The firm says it moves quickly when it has conviction and does not sign NDAs before reviewing a company. A short note plus a deck is the preferred first contact, to [email protected].
Geographic Focus
UK-based and focused on the UK and Europe, with founders of European roots preferred. The FAQ says it backs exceptional founders globally where there is alignment. Offices are in London and San Francisco. Evertrue Capital LLP is an Appointed Representative of Plug Capital (FCA FRN 1048102).
Gaps
Cheque size is stated in GBP on the homepage and USD in the FAQ. Investment dates and stages for the named portfolio companies were not disclosed, so none are recorded. Company domains were not verified and are left blank.
