Huddle Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Huddle Ventures is a Gurugram-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2017 by Ishaan Khosla and Sanil Sachar, growing out of an earlier startup accelerator (Huddle) into an institutional fund. The firm's core belief is that the highest-value moment for an investor is before a company's success looks inevitable to anyone else: they explicitly seek out pre-revenue, ground-up building rather than waiting for traction signals that attract the broader market. Huddle positions itself as a high-conviction, hands-on partner rather than a passive check-writer, building its own independent thesis in each deal instead of following other investors' leads. The firm is sector-agnostic by design, believing outliers can emerge from any category, though in practice its 40+ company portfolio skews heavily toward consumer D2C brands, with meaningful clusters in fintech, agri-tech, electric mobility, healthcare access, and consumer AI.
Stage Focus
Huddle is hyper-focused on Pre-Seed and Seed as its entry stages, aiming to be the first institutional investor in a company. It reserves capital to follow on through Series A and Series B for its strongest portfolio companies (evidenced by follow-on activity in CureSkin and The Pant Project, both of which reached Series A).
Check Size
The firm's own FAQ states a typical first check of $500K on average, extendable up to $1M, with follow-on capacity through Series B. This positions Huddle as a lead-capable investor even at the earliest stages in the Indian market.
Lead Tendency
Huddle explicitly states it is "ready to lead your round" with its full ticket as a first check, and frames its independent-thesis approach as a reason to engage with them early rather than after a round has already taken shape with other leads. The firm is best classified as a lead investor.
Recent Activity
Huddle is actively deploying capital. Its second fund (Fund II) launched in mid-2023 targeting INR 100 Cr and became oversubscribed, closing at roughly INR 150 Cr (~$18M) via a green-shoe option around July 2024, bringing total fund size across Fund I and Fund II to approximately $24M. Third-party trackers report 4 new investments in the trailing 12 months as of mid-2026, including 2026 vintage deals such as AItainment, Apna Circle, Cunin, Smooth Money, and The Stack. Recent notable rounds involving existing portfolio companies include OZi's $6.2M Series A led by RTP Global (February 2026) and Asaya's Rs 88 Cr (~$9.2M) Series A led by RPSG Capital at a Rs 400 Cr valuation (August 2026).
Portfolio Highlights
The portfolio spans roughly 40+ companies. Notable names include Blue Tokai Coffee (craft coffee, later raised a $35M Series C led by Verlinvest), CureSkin (AI-driven skincare, reached Series A), Grip Invest (alternative investment platform for Indian retail investors), Typo (AI-driven engineering management SaaS), NeuroPixel.ai (Gen-AI fashion photography), Cell Propulsion and RACE Energy (electric commercial mobility and battery-swapping infrastructure), and Satleo Labs (thermal/multispectral micro-satellite imaging). Co-investors across the portfolio include RTP Global, Accel, Fireside Ventures, Blume Ventures, Tiger Global, Mayfield, Titan, India Quotient, and Verlinvest, indicating strong syndicate relationships with both India-focused and global funds.
Team
- Ishaan Khosla — Managing Partner; co-founder of Huddle since 2017.
- Sanil Sachar — Managing Partner; co-founder, active public voice for the firm on funding announcements and founder engagement.
- Sarthak Rastogi — AVP.
- Rishiraj Kalita — AVP.
The firm also leans on an extensive bench of ~19 named advisors spanning consumer, fintech, and operating backgrounds (including the founders of Zomato and Shiprocket, and former leaders from KPMG, Grant Thornton, and Goldman Sachs), which it uses to support diligence and portfolio company growth.
Decision Process
Decisions are made by the partnership (two Managing Partners plus AVP support) rather than a solo GP. The firm sets aside 2-3 weeks for intensive diligence, debate, and expert-network validation once genuinely interested, and states it typically reaches an investment decision within about 3 weeks of the first conversation with a founding team — with fast "no" feedback (within the first two conversations) when a deal isn't a fit.
Founder Preferences
Huddle backs founders willing to build from the ground up before product-market fit is obvious, and describes itself as a "sounding board" that gets operationally involved in strategy, branding, hiring, and product post-investment, per founder testimonials on its site (The Stack, Cumin Co, Asaya, LiteStore).
Geographic Focus
Huddle invests exclusively in India, headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana.
