Peak Capital Research
Investment Thesis
Peak is a pan-European early-stage venture fund that describes itself as "from founders for founders." It started in 2008 when five entrepreneurs pooled money to back founders and be the investors they wished they had had. Every fund, Peak I through Peak IV, is backed entirely by seasoned entrepreneurs; the firm cites more than 200 entrepreneur investors from manufacturing and logistics to tech unicorns. The stated focus is business model rather than industry vertical: SaaS, marketplace and platform companies, B2C, B2B, B2B2C or C2C. Recent partner hires and posts show a growing emphasis on applied AI, such as AI agents for operations, voice-first AI and AI infrastructure.
Selection Criteria
Peak screens on four Ts:
- Team: complementary tech and sales skills, founder-market fit, strong values, chemistry. It tends to avoid single founders, incomplete teams and teams without tech expertise.
- Traction: customer validation, revenue quality over quantity, positive unit economics. It avoids capital inefficiency and premature scaling.
- Thesis: painkillers rather than vitamins, deep moats, big markets. It avoids crowded markets and indefensible products.
- Timing: a clear "why now" and a clean cap table. It avoids highly diluted founders and strategic investors.
Hardware-heavy products are generally out of scope unless the hardware is marginal to the value proposition.
Stage Focus and Check Size
Peak invests from pre-seed through seed and follows on to Series B and beyond. Its FAQ gives an average initial ticket of EUR 500K to EUR 5M, and reserves a large share of the fund for follow-ons. The homepage cites a EUR 125M fund size and 80+ investments across Europe. A December 2022 press item reported a EUR 150M close for a fifth seed fund, so the fund-size figures differ by source.
Lead Tendency
Peak says being lead is in its DNA, but it is open to co-investing and following where there is a strong lead. In Lette (Oct 2026) it led; in Basalt (Dec 2025) it co-led with Entourage; in Juo (Nov 2025) it co-led with Market One Capital; in VoiceLine's EUR 10M Series A it co-led with Alstin.

Decision Process
A partnership process. It starts with a meeting with a team member, then follow-up sessions with partners, data requests, competitive review and a term sheet. Peak says it moves fast but not overnight.
Founder Preferences
Balanced founding teams with tech and commercial skills, founder-market fit, and personal chemistry. Peak openly avoids solo founders and inflated egos.
Geographic Focus
Europe only. Offices in Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich; primary focus DACH and Benelux, with Nordics also mentioned. Non-European-registered companies are considered only if of European origin or with substantial EU operations.
Gaps
No public portfolio dates or per-company stages for older holdings. Fund size is EUR 125M on the site versus a EUR 150M fifth seed fund reported in 2022.
