Investment Thesis
PT1 Ventures (formerly PropTech1 Ventures) is a thesis-driven European early-stage VC that backs founders "upgrading the physical world." The firm began as Germany's first proptech-focused fund and has widened into energy, infrastructure and the built world. Its stated focus is structural problems in energy, buildings and infrastructure, and it describes its theses as continuously evolving while conviction stays on where the leverage is. The team says it lives in InfraTech, electrification and AI-driven industrial systems, so founders do not need to educate it on incumbents or pain points.
PT1 organizes its view into three themes. Electrify covers grids, storage, electrified heat and mobility, and the software that orchestrates them. Automate covers construction, real estate and infrastructure, where AI, LLMs and robotics are moving from pilots to production. Fortify covers infrastructure resilience: monitoring, climate adaptation, supply chain security and sovereign data. Each theme has a named lead on the team (Fabian König on Electrification, Burhan Pisavadi on AI and Robotics in the Built World, Konstantinos Matsoukas on infrastructure resilience).
Stage Focus
PT1 invests at pre-seed and seed, and keeps reserves to follow on over multiple rounds. It also runs a separate growth-deals channel for LPs.
Check Size
The site says PT1 moves fast and (co-)leads rounds up to EUR 4M. Third-party profiles put initial tickets at roughly EUR 300K to EUR 4M.
Lead Tendency
Both. PT1 states it (co-)leads rounds. Its most recent public deal, Metris Energy's USD 5M seed in September 2026, was co-led alongside Octopus Ventures, with AENU and Blackfinch Ventures also in the round.
Recent Activity
- September 2026: co-led Metris Energy's USD 5M seed (AI-native data layer for solar and energy assets).
- 2026: Tracxn lists Scy AI and Arctis AI among the firm's latest investments. Both appear on the portfolio page.
- Fund II (PT1 Early-Stage Fund II) held a first close of EUR 44M in January 2023 against a EUR 100M target. Fund I closed at EUR 50M in January 2022. The firm is currently still deploying and added several new companies in 2026.
- The investment team is writing a book, "Upgrading Europe," on how technology makes Europe's real-asset supercycle investable (preview edition, coming soon).

The portfolio page lists 35 companies, with 5 marked as exits: 42 Watt, FloodFlash, Kollabo, Seniovo and Thing-it. Decision Process
Partnership model: the investment team sources and evaluates, and a Partner-level Investment Committee, supported by an Investment Committee Panel of venture partners, decides. PT1 says its market fluency lets it move quickly and with conviction.
Founder Preferences
Founders tackling hard physical-world problems at day one, early and before the market catches on. PT1 offers capital plus strategic and operational support through LP investors who become customers and venture partners who have built and scaled in the sector. It screens several thousand startups a year (7,000+ analysed, 100+ industry experts on the platform).
