Reveille VC Research
Firm Overview
Reveille Venture Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm based in New York City, founded and led by General Partner Pete Mathias. The firm operates at the intersection of national security, energy independence, and economic competitiveness, backing founders who are building critical technologies to keep nations running and people thriving. Reveille announced its debut fund with a $25 million target in December 2025, making it a newly established but highly focused player in the national interest technology space.
Investment Thesis
Reveille structures its investment thesis around three interconnected pillars: Power, Protection, and Productivity. This framework reflects a conviction that the most consequential opportunities lie where deep technology intersects with national interest and real-world physical infrastructure.
Power encompasses baseload energy solutions, with a particular emphasis on advanced nuclear energy including microreactors, as well as grid modernization technologies. Reveille sees nuclear as a critical solution for reliable, mobile energy delivery — especially for defense and remote applications. The firm's portfolio company Antares Industries exemplifies this thesis, building compact fission microreactors for land, sea, and space deployments.
Protection covers defense capabilities, national security infrastructure, and community resilience technologies. The firm is actively building a portfolio in this sector, with investments forthcoming. Given Pete Mathias's background backing over 20 companies with U.S. Armed Forces and foreign government contracts, this pillar draws on deep institutional relationships.
Productivity focuses on AI and edge computing applied to the largely offline physical economy — manufacturing, logistics, construction, and other industries that remain digitally underserved. Reveille believes that deploying AI and edge intelligence in these sectors represents a massive, overlooked opportunity compared to pure software markets.
Beyond just capital, Reveille positions venture capital as 'a pillar of American power,' functioning as a network node connecting founders, capital providers, and institutions. The firm provides active support: connecting founders to technical talent, unlocking commercial pathways to regulated market buyers (defense, energy, government), and helping assemble appropriate capital structures and strategic partnerships.
Stage and Check Size
Reveille targets early-stage companies, primarily at the Pre-Seed and Seed stages. With a debut fund targeting $25 million, individual investment check sizes are estimated in the range of $500K–$2M. The firm positions itself as willing to be among the first institutional investors in a company, providing hands-on operational support alongside capital. For larger rounds (such as growth-stage follow-ons), Reveille participates alongside co-investors.
The Resolute Framework
Reveille operates 'Resolute,' a curated collection of fundamental challenges across its three domains. Rather than prescribing solutions, Resolute frames critical unsolved problems — modernizing baseload energy, closing AI gaps in physical industries, strengthening defense capabilities — as open questions for founders. This problem-first philosophy guides portfolio selection and signals to founders which challenges align with Reveille's funding priorities. As the firm notes: 'A problem well stated is half solved.'
Portfolio
Reveille's current known portfolio includes two companies, with additional Protection-sector investments announced as forthcoming:
Antares Industries (antaresindustries.com): Antares builds compact nuclear microreactors designed for fission-based energy delivery for critical mission capabilities on land, at sea, and in space. Their R1 Microreactor delivers 100–500 kWe for 4–6 years of continuous operation, targeting power-constrained environments including defense installations and remote operations. Antares maintains a vertically integrated supply chain covering reactor design, thermal management, automated controls, and precision graphite machining. Reveille participated in Antares' $96 million Series B in December 2025, led by Shine Capital with participation from Alt Capital, Caffeinated, FiftyThree Stations, and Industrious.
Ground Control Development (groundcontroldev.com): Ground Control provides real estate, infrastructure, and construction services purpose-built for advanced manufacturing and hardware startups in nuclear, aerospace, and cleantech. The company operates in Los Angeles and New York, helping hardware founders access the specialized facilities they need to build and scale. Reveille participated in an early-stage $2M round alongside Earthrise Ventures and Root Ventures.
