Singular Research
Investment Thesis
Singular is a European early-stage venture firm that invests across all sectors. Its stated standard is "born in Europe, built for the world": it backs founders with global ambitions rather than a vertical or a trend. The firm describes its target founders as "creators" who use frontier technology to reshape their disciplines and build category-defining companies from the ground up. It says it is founder-centric and potential-driven, and looks for high-velocity founding teams working on future market leaders.
Sector Coverage
Despite being sector-agnostic, the portfolio clusters in a few areas. Co-founder Jeremy Uzan names AI-first businesses, infrastructure, developer tools and techbio, and says deep tech has become much more prominent as a new generation of scientist-founders arrives. The portfolio includes:
- Cybersecurity and devtools: Aikido, Prelude, Tsuga
- Data infrastructure: Tinybird, Soda, Climatiq
- AI: Synthflow, Peec AI
- Techbio: Basecamp Research, Orakl Oncology, Spore.Bio, Apoha
- Health: Moka.Care, Resilience, Lucis, Voy, Patronus
- Fintech and insurtech: Shares, Indy, Saturn, Life5, Orus
- Applied and industrial tech: Fairmat, Osium AI, Continuum Industries
- Vertical and business SaaS: Lupa, Sparta, Thynk, Qobra, Heyflow
- Consumer and marketplaces: Typology, Papier, Asap.Work, Homa
Stage Focus
Seed to Series B, with a strong focus on Series A. The firm says its ability to write large tickets from Seed through Series B lets it engage at the right moment, and it often adds to winners in later rounds.
Check Size
Singular says it can invest up to EUR 25M per company. A minimum check is not published. Treat the range as roughly seed-sized checks up to EUR 25M.
Lead Tendency
The firm describes itself as a lead investor ("as lead investors, strong conviction is essential"). Recent public examples include leading Lupa's Series A, Peec AI's $21M Series A and Basecamp Research's $60M Series B (Oct 2024).
Recent Activity and Fund Status
Singular closed Fund I (EUR 225M) in summer 2020 and Fund II (EUR 400M, about $435M) in December 2023. It has backed roughly 40 companies in 10 European countries. It is actively deploying from Fund II. In September 2026 Basecamp Research raised a $140M Series C led by S32 with NVentures participating. Formel Skin and Vibe are marked as exited on the firm's site.

Decision Process
