T.Capital Research
Investment Thesis
T.Capital is the strategic investment arm of Deutsche Telekom, managing roughly €2.3 billion in assets on behalf of the group. It is a corporate venture and growth platform, not a traditional fund raising from outside LPs: every investment is expected to pair capital with access to Deutsche Telekom's markets, engineering expertise, and distribution. The firm describes its approach as "more than capital" — investments come with the opportunity to access markets, expertise, and partnerships that help businesses scale faster. Its origins trace back to DTCP and the earlier hub:raum fund, both of which were folded into what is now T.Capital.
Sector Focus
T.Capital is industry and business-model agnostic but concentrates on a defined set of verticals: AI, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Connectivity, and Consumer. Its current portfolio skews heavily toward applied AI and AI infrastructure (Lovable, Black Forest Labs, Decagon, n8n, Nscale, Perplexity, ElevenLabs, HappyRobot), cybersecurity and threat intelligence (Filigran, Mondoo, Cynet), defense and aerospace (Quantum Systems), ad-tech (Equativ), climate and carbon markets (Pachama), energy (Marvel Fusion, laser-driven fusion), IoT and connectivity (1NCE, Helium, Teridion, Kinexon), and enterprise workflow/infrastructure (Dash0, Prosimo, Sitetracker, SignalWire).
Stage Focus
T.Capital operates through two distinct strategies with different stage mandates. The Ventures team invests from Series A to Series C, mainly as a strategic follower alongside lead investors. The Tech Fund team invests in Growth Equity and Buyout situations, taking control or significant minority positions, spanning the full company lifecycle from Series A through Buyout.
Check Size
Ticket sizes range from €1 million to €300 million across the platform. Ventures typically writes €2–5 million checks. Tech Fund writes much larger checks of €50–300 million, reflecting its growth-equity and buyout mandate.
Lead Tendency
Ventures explicitly positions itself as a strategic follower rather than a lead investor, joining rounds led by traditional VCs. Tech Fund, by contrast, takes significant minority or outright control positions in growth-equity and buyout deals, which functions much closer to a lead or co-control investor. Overall lead tendency is best characterized as mixed across the two strategies.
Recent Activity
T.Capital has been highly active through 2025 and into 2026, with a clear tilt toward AI infrastructure and applied AI. Recent moves include a Series C participation in HappyRobot (July 2026), a Series B investment in observability platform Dash0 (March 2026, alongside a $110M raise at a $1B valuation), continued investment and expansion around Quantum Systems including its $1.2B Series D (Europe's largest defense-technology financing to date), a strategic investment and commercial pilot with Decagon (November 2025), and initial investments in Nscale, Filigran, and n8n (Q3–Q4 2025). ElevenLabs, in which T.Capital first invested in January 2025, saw T.Capital participate in a second closing of its Series D.
Portfolio Highlights
The portfolio spans over 30 companies. Notable exits include DocuSign, ID Quantique (acquired by IonQ), Relayr (acquired by Munich Re), and Pachama (acquired by Carbon Direct). Standout active positions include Quantum Systems (Europe's leading aerial surveillance/defense platform), Perplexity, ElevenLabs, Lovable, n8n, and Black Forest Labs — several of which now power Deutsche Telekom's own Magenta AI consumer products (ElevenLabs voice, Perplexity search, Black Forest Labs' Flux-based T-Create image tool).

Decision Process
As a corporate investment platform structured around two specialized teams (Ventures and Tech Fund) reporting into Deutsche Telekom Group Development, decisions run through an internal investment-committee process rather than a small partnership or solo GP structure.
Founder Preferences
T.Capital's value proposition centers on "T.Difference" — pairing capital with joint go-to-market, pilot projects, and cross-selling into Deutsche Telekom's customer base (around 3 million enterprise/SMB clients, 261 million mobile customers, 25 million fixed-line connections, and 22 million broadband customers globally). It is best suited to founders building category-defining, technology-driven businesses who can benefit from a large telco's distribution, infrastructure, and enterprise relationships, particularly in AI, cybersecurity, connectivity, and cloud infrastructure.
Geographic Focus
Ventures invests across Europe, the US, and Israel. Tech Fund invests across Europe and the US. Deutsche Telekom's own scale — a global powerhouse with €115bn in revenue and operations in more than 50 countries — underpins both strategies' geographic reach.
