Wipro Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Wipro Ventures is the strategic, corporate venture arm of Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT), established in 2015. It invests in early- to mid-stage companies building enterprise software, and positions itself as the "connective tissue" between startups and Wipro's Global 1000 customer base. The pitch to founders is distribution: Wipro says it has deployed 800+ solutions across 250+ customers globally from its portfolio.
Its current public thesis centers on "Services-as-Software" (SaS): AI agents that deliver end outcomes instead of tools, absorbing revenue from traditional IT and BPO services. Wipro Ventures frames this as a roughly $4.6 trillion services opportunity and argues technology service providers have the edge where processes are complex but standardized (its "Zone 4"). It organizes investments into three buckets:
- Building blocks for building and governing autonomous AI systems: Ema, Kognitos, Skan AI, Pay-i.
- Agentic solutions for IT and cybersecurity that can be embedded in managed services: Factory, Functionize, Simbian, Tuskira.
- Industry outcome solutions, especially in regulated domains that need human-in-the-loop oversight.
Stage Focus
The firm states it invests in early- to mid-stage companies. History shows a mix: early checks in companies such as Vicarious and Imanis Data in 2015, growth-stage rounds such as Tricentis in 2017, and a 2022 Emerging Technology Fund aimed at early-stage startups. Recent years (2024 to 2025) are described as a focus on early-stage investments.
Check Size
Wipro Ventures does not publish check sizes. Capital raised so far: $100M (Fund I, 2015), $150M (Fund II, 2020), $50M (Emerging Technology Fund, 2022), and $200M (fourth round, February 2025), about $500M committed in total. Check size is left unset because no source states it.
Lead Tendency
Not stated. Co-investors such as SYN Ventures publicly describe working with Wipro Ventures as co-investors, which suggests it is often a strategic participant in syndicates. Lead tendency is recorded as unknown.
Recent Activity
- February 2025: Wipro committed a further $200M to Wipro Ventures, its fourth round of funding. At that point it had invested in 37 startups and had 12 exits.
- 2024 to 2025 investments: Lineaje (software supply-chain security), Simbian and Tuskira (SOC automation), Skan AI, Pay-i and Factory (AI), SquareX (browser detection and response).

Decision Process
Wipro Ventures is a corporate venture capital unit funded from Wipro's balance sheet, with allocations approved by Wipro's board. Decisions are made by the managing partners, with business-development partners bringing customer and commercial context. Strategic fit with Wipro's services business is clearly a factor in every investment.
Founder Preferences
Founders building enterprise-grade software that Global 1000 customers can deploy, especially in AI and agents, cybersecurity, data and analytics, DevOps and quality engineering. Companies that can plug into Wipro's service lines and customer relationships are favored. Consumer, hardware-first and non-enterprise companies are outside the stated focus, with exceptions such as Spartan Radar and Vicarious.
Geographic Focus
Primarily the US, with a record of investments in Israel (IntSights, CyCognito) and India (Altizon, Squadcast, Skan AI), and fund investments in India, the US and Israel. Wipro is global, so portfolio companies can be anywhere that has enterprise buyers.
