TychoBio is developing a biological production platform for useful chemicals that are difficult or expensive to manufacture or synthesize at industrial scale. TychoBio uses Physcomitrella patens, a species of moss, as the basis of its technology. By modifying the genome of this moss, the company can create cellular factories that can be grown in enclosed photobioreactors, using only light and carbon dioxide to produce a variety of end-products.
