AUM Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
AUM Ventures is an early-stage venture fund backing IP-led, deep-technology companies built in India for global markets. The firm describes itself as "conviction capital for India's innovation frontier" and argues that India is moving from a service-led economy to a global creator of intellectual property. Its stated criteria are four: strengthen national capability (companies of sovereign significance), build durable IP (moats built through patents and real-world performance), compete globally from day one, and show institutional governance from the start. The thesis leans on three tailwinds: roughly $12B of government outlay for deep tech, India's large STEM graduate pipeline, and the geopolitical priority governments now give space, defence, semiconductors and critical infrastructure.
Stage Focus
Pre-seed and seed. The new fund also reserves significant capital for follow-ons through Series A and Series B, and the portfolio shows later rounds (Skyroot at Series A+, LatentAI and Dezy at Series A) reached through follow-on or later entry.
Check Size
Initial checks of $750K to $2M, per the firm's thesis page and the Fund II launch coverage. The first deepspark investment in Sanyark Space was reported at $500K, so smaller first checks exist.
Lead Tendency
Not clearly stated. Founders describe AUM as the first VC on their cap table (Skyroot, Azimuth AI), which suggests early and sometimes first-institutional entry, but the sources do not say whether it leads rounds. Marked unknown.
