Granada Funds Research
Investment Thesis
Granada Funds describes itself as an operator-led venture capital firm that backs regulated B2B companies in financial services and healthcare. The stated mission is to accelerate technology that improves human health and financial wellbeing. The partners say they have built, run and acquired businesses in these sectors, and they pitch an M&A lens on every deal: they claim to know how strategic buyers value companies, and they favour sectors with clear reimbursement paths and active strategic acquirers. The site stresses evidence first (the number, the customer and the milestone before the story), founder-centric support and long-term partnership.
Sector Focus
The firm names two sectors, each with sub-areas.
- FinTech: agentic commerce (payment rails, credentials and controls for AI agents buying on behalf of people and businesses, agentic payments, stablecoin infrastructure, cross-border transfers); financial infrastructure (banking APIs, RegTech, compliance platforms, retail tech); InsurTech (digital insurance platforms, claims automation, risk analytics).
- HealthTech: medical devices (cardiac devices, surgical robotics, diagnostics); healthcare AI (medical imaging AI, clinical analytics, lab automation with an FDA or CE pathway); digital health (remote patient monitoring, telemedicine, digital therapeutics).
The portfolio page also carries one pure AI company (Competera), so AI applications for regulated or retail B2B markets are in scope.
Stage Focus
The firm calls its strategy a barbell. Direct seed investments carry the upside. Later-stage and pre-IPO co-investments alongside established funds offer a shorter path to liquidity. The site says it weights both ends and puts little in the middle.
Check Size
The site states a typical initial investment of $100K to $200K, with follow-on support as companies grow. A search snippet of an older version of the contact page quoted $150K to $400K, so the range appears to have been updated. The current site figure is used.
Lead Tendency
Not stated. The Firmly investment post says Granada Fund I joined a Series A led by Squarepoint, so at least in later-stage deals it follows. Lead tendency is recorded as unknown.
Recent Activity
- Granada Funds I, LP filed a Form D with the SEC on 2025-11-18 for a $5M offering (Rule 506(b), 3(c)(1) pooled fund, nothing sold at filing). Granada Funds GP, LLC is the general partner.
- The firm's LinkedIn page posts that Granada Fund I invested in Firmly, whose Series A was led by Squarepoint with Mastercard and JPMorganChase as strategic investors. The post is undated in the capture.
- The fund is small and new, so it is treated as actively deploying.
Portfolio Highlights
The portfolio page lists five companies, none with disclosed investment dates or rounds.

- Anthropic (San Francisco): AI safety and research company. Listed as AI, pre-IPO.

- Karim Maasarani: Managing Partner of the Manager of the General Partner, per the Form D.

Decision Process
The site lists a six step process: initial review (reply in 1 to 3 business days), first meeting, due diligence, partner review, term sheet, closing. Four to six weeks from first meeting to closing. The partners decide together. Warm introduction is not required: founders can submit a pitch through a form.
Founder Preferences
Deep domain expertise, a clear view of the customer, and evidence the team can execute. The firm wants B2B businesses with clear market validation and a scalable model.
Geographic Focus
US and Europe. The firm is based in the New York metro area, with an office in Paramus, NJ. Portfolio companies sit in British Columbia, New York, London, San Francisco and Seattle.
