HubSpot Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
HubSpot Ventures is the corporate venture arm of HubSpot (NYSE: HUBS), launched in December 2018 with a $30M fund. It invests in early- and growth-stage software companies that can deliver unique value to HubSpot's customer base, which is mostly small and mid-sized businesses. The stated mission is to help millions of organizations grow better. Under Managing Director Adam Coccari, who joined in late 2024, the fund said it was "doubling down" on startups that bring autonomous AI to SMBs. Its view is that AI agents will let every small business "play big", across go-to-market and also legal review, contract writing, bookkeeping and design.
Focus Areas
The December 2024 announcement named four core areas for 2025 and beyond:
- Agentic applications for SMBs
- Core AI and AI agent development tools, including voice and vision models, agent frameworks and tool use
- Data infrastructure
- FinTech and B2B commerce
Many portfolio companies integrate with HubSpot or list in its App Marketplace. Examples include Auctor, which launched a HubSpot Marketplace integration, Bland, whose voice agents connect to HubSpot CRM, and Lovable, where HubSpot teams build and prototype internally. The investing approach pairs HubSpot's own embedded agents with an ecosystem of startups built on its platform.
Stage Focus
The fund invests at Seed-plus and later, with its own site describing early- and growth-stage software (Series A and beyond). Public recent activity is mostly Series A to Series C participation, often alongside a lead such as SignalFire (Vector Series A) or Dell Technologies Capital (Bland Series C). It returned for Lovable's Series C after investing in the Series B.
Check Size
Initial investments of $500K to $5M, per the firm's site and third-party profiles. The fund is reported to take follow-on positions in winners.
Lead Tendency
The posts reviewed show participation in rounds led by others (Bland, Vector, Lovable). No lead role was evidenced, so lead tendency is recorded as follows.
