Momentum Partners Research
Investment Thesis
Momentum Partners is a Bergen, Norway venture firm (managed by Momentum Venture Management AS) that invests in companies with sustainability and climate impact at the heart of their business. The firm backs innovative, ambitious teams with a particular focus on the ocean industries, agriculture, renewables and construction/property, including energy efficiency. It describes its pitch as bringing competence and involvement to the table, not only equity, and says it rolls up its sleeves to help companies develop, always based on aligned incentives.
Stage Focus
Momentum typically enters at seed and follows its portfolio companies through scaling. Third-party profiles list pre-seed and seed as the entry stage, and a LinkedIn post shows the firm co-leading a pre-seed round in OptiFish. The firm says it follows companies all the way through their scaling, so follow-on participation in later rounds is expected.
Check Size
EU-Startups lists a typical investment of EUR 100k to EUR 1.5M. The firm's own site does not publish check sizes. Treat the range as third-party and moderate confidence.
Lead Tendency
The firm says it often takes board positions and supports founders day to day. It has co-led rounds (OptiFish pre-seed). Lead tendency is recorded as both.
Recent Activity
Momentum is investing from Fund III and is building a portfolio of 20-25 companies across the Nordics (LinkedIn). The European Investment Fund committed EUR 25M to the Nordic green tech fund Momentum in December 2024 (Impact Investor). Dealroom lists the latest fund size at NOK 400M (January 2025). The site states 18 portfolio companies, 3 funds and NOK 850M AUM (about USD 80-85M). A PitchBook snippet shows a seed round in construction and engineering dated 2026-10-15; the company is not named in the sources read, so it is not recorded as an event.
Portfolio Highlights
Current portfolio listed on the site includes Nofence (virtual fence for livestock), Pascal (electric boat technology), Glint Solar (solar site selection), Amina Charging (EV charging), 7Analytics (flood prediction analytics), Remora Robotics (autonomous AI net cleaner), OSC (digital twins for offshore wind and smart cities), Inherit Carbon Solutions (BECCS carbon removal), Photoncycle (long duration energy storage), Tequs (CO2 heat pumps), Dele Health Tech (fall detection for senior care), Rayvn (critical event management), Onio (continuous monitoring), Quantfolio (investment advisory platform), Intellitech (insurance onboarding), Aivero (3D depth compression), Reduzer (construction carbon), LCA.no (environmental documentation) and Enerin (high-temperature heat pumps).
Listed exits: Navidium, Blue Ocean, Dyrekassen, Spacemaker, AVA, Freska, SRT (ScanReach), Travis and Cutters. The site does not say which were acquisitions versus other outcomes, and Spacemaker is not claimed here as an acquisition.

Decision Process
Three managing partners and an investment director, so a partnership model. The site invites founders to email any team member or call directly, which suggests warm intros are helpful but not required. No decision timeline is published.
Founder Preferences
The firm says it looks for stellar teams with bold visions, scalable solutions and strong execution that share the ambition of creating the next big thing. Stated values: aligned interests, honesty, integrity, passion, hard work and straight talk, and the belief that a team beats an individual.
Geographic Focus
Nordic, with a strong Norwegian base (Bergen and Western Norway ocean and energy industries). The firm describes building a portfolio across the Nordics. It reports under EU SFDR, with Momentum II and Momentum III disclosures, and a published responsible investment policy.
Gaps
The site had no news or blog section. Dated deals, check sizes and lead roles come mainly from third-party listings. Portfolio entry stages and dates are not published on the site, so none are recorded.
