Moonshot Capital Research

Overview

Moonshot Capital (trading name of Moonshot Capital Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16949782, registered office 11 Welbeck Street, London W1G 9XZ) is a London-based first-cheque venture fund backing B2B AI companies building what it calls "the intelligence layer of the physical economy". Its tagline is "We back those who dare". The website states that Moonshot Capital Fund I is currently in formation, and the homepage invites institutional and professional investors to register LP interest. No fund size, close date or target has been published, so none is recorded here. Note: this firm is unrelated to Moonshots Capital (Austin, TX, military-veteran-founded) and to Moonshot Capital the mobile-app working-capital lender; the research below covers only moonshotcap.vc.

Investment Thesis

The thesis is that AI is moving from software into the physical world, and that the biggest opportunities sit where real-time data, sensing and models drive decisions and actions in operating environments. The firm's AI Visionaries manifesto names three areas of innovation: (1) Operational Intelligence, turning real-time data into faster and smarter decisions for resilient operations; (2) Critical Infrastructure, covering predictive maintenance, cybersecurity, supply chains and remote operations; and (3) Autonomous Systems, combining sensing, intelligence and action across robotics, mobility, defence, logistics, energy and agriculture. The founding partner's newsletter reinforces this view, for example arguing that the AI bottleneck has moved from GPUs to power and now to energised land, grid connections, transformers and permitting, and that startups helping existing infrastructure "move faster and work harder" are well placed.

Stage Focus and Check Size

The firm describes itself as a first-cheque fund, so its focus is the earliest institutional round (pre-seed and seed). No check size range or ownership target is published; check size fields are left empty rather than guessed. Lead tendency is not stated.

Recent Activity

Fund I is in formation and no investments by the fund are publicly announced. The firm's visible activity in 2026 is its platform work: the AI Visionaries accelerator (a five-week programme and a seven-day GTM Sprint, run in partnership with Google Cloud and Female Foundry), the Moonshot Weekly newsletter (7,000+ subscribers, formerly the Female Foundry newsletter, merged in July 2026), and events such as Cambridge Tech Week, HumanX, London Deeptech Summit and the London Stock Exchange-hosted Female Innovation Index launch. In September 2026 Moonshot Capital was selected as one of the top 20 emerging VC funds in Europe in the Slush x RAISE programme and will present to roughly 150 LPs on stage at Slush in Helsinki in November 2026.

Portfolio / Cohort

The only company list on the site is the AI Visionaries accelerator cohort: Menza, Automated Architecture, Samphire Neuroscience, PHINXT Robotics, Pipeline Organics, The Landbanking Group, Novai, Renude, GlycanAge and Veriom. The site does not say that the fund invested in these companies, and the fund itself is still forming, so they are best read as accelerator alumni and a pool of warm relationships rather than confirmed investments. PHINXT Robotics (phinxt.com) is the only one whose caption gave a website.

Team

Agata Leliwa Nowicka is the Founding Partner. She is a three-time founder and startup adviser based in London, with an MBA from INSEAD and the Wharton School and about 15 years as a VC investor and founder across the UK, US and Hong Kong. She founded Female Foundry (a network of 7,000+ VCs, founders and innovators, publisher of the Female Innovation Index, Europe's largest analysis of female-founded funding) and was Managing Partner of the Visionaries AI incubator before launching Moonshot Capital. She speaks at SuperReturn International Venture, Cambridge Tech Week, London Tech Week and similar events. No other partners are listed publicly.

Decision Process and Founder Preferences

The public material points to a founder-led decision process centred on the founding partner; no formal committee structure is described. She says she speaks with 20+ founders every week. The firm favours visionary, ambitious founders ("those who dare") building AI-native products for industrial and physical-world customers, and its content places heavy weight on go-to-market discipline, including competing against buyers' internal build teams, consultancies and incumbents rather than only other startups. Female-founded companies are a long-standing area of community focus through Female Foundry, though the fund's stated thesis is sector-led rather than gender-restricted.

Geographic Focus

The fund is London-based and its content covers Europe extensively (European funding data, European deeptech, European space, defence). The firm does not publish an explicit geographic mandate, so Europe and the UK are recorded as the likely focus with moderate confidence.

Gaps

Fund size, check size, ownership targets, investment pace and any actual Fund I investments are not public. LP materials are gated behind registration.
