SeaX Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
SeaX Ventures backs early-stage companies building what it calls "groundbreaking exponential technologies," investments the firm believes can transform societies and help countries reach higher levels of economic progress. Founded in 2018 by Supachai "Kid" Parchariyanon, the firm operates as a bridge between Silicon Valley and Southeast Asia, pairing US deep-tech deal flow with a large ASEAN corporate and family-office LP base. SeaX describes its approach as the "3As": Access (global deal flow weighted to the US and Asia), Accelerate (leveraging affiliate RISE's network of 2,000+ startup alumni for go-to-market support), and Advantage (introductions to multinational corporations and family offices as customers, partners, and follow-on capital).
Sector Focus
The firm is explicitly frontier- and deep-tech-focused, spanning healthtech, biotech, AI infrastructure, climate tech, advanced materials and nanotechnology, physical AI/robotics, space tech, and an exploratory posture toward quantum computing. Its fellowship program materials additionally name agritech, energy, and food tech as areas of active sourcing. Portfolio evidence backs this breadth: cultivated-fat food tech (Hoxton Farms), agricultural robotics (Verdant Robotics), fusion energy (Type One Energy Group), direct-air-capture climate tech (Brineworks), oncology/AI drug discovery (RyboDyn), and blockchain infrastructure (Band Protocol, Solana).
Stage Focus
SeaX invests at pre-seed and seed, occasionally co-leading pre-seed rounds and following on at seed (as with RyboDyn, where SeaX was a pre-seed co-lead and returned for the $10M seed). The firm is currently deploying out of a $70M second fund.
Check Size
Third-party fund data puts SeaX's typical check between $0.5M and $5M, consistent with a lead-or-follow seed-stage investor rather than a pure-follow angel check writer.
Lead Tendency
Mixed. SeaX led Brineworks' $5.87M seed (announced September 2025) and led Onibi's strategic round (announced June 2026), but took a participant/co-investor position in RyboDyn's $10M seed (announced March 2026) alongside Genedant, SOSV, Swell VC, Massive Tech Ventures, and P2V.
Recent Activity
- June 2026: Led a strategic investment in Onibi, an AI-powered open-world RPG game studio, alongside Pix Capital.
- March 2026: Participated in RyboDyn's $10M seed round for AI-driven "dark proteome" cancer target discovery.
- September 2025: Led Brineworks' $5.87M seed round for direct-air-capture technology producing e-fuel feedstocks.
Fund status reads as actively deploying, with a steady cadence of roughly one new disclosed deal per quarter across 2025-2026.
Portfolio Highlights
SeaX's public portfolio page lists ~29 companies, including A2Z Radiology AI, Active Surfaces, AiFi, Apollo Neuro, Band Protocol, BotMD, Brineworks, Cambrium, Eigen Therapeutics, Empo Health, Hoxton Farms, Lingrove, Nirvamed, Onibi, QVIN, RyboDyn, Solana, Type One Energy Group, and Verdant Robotics. Solana and Band Protocol represent SeaX's early blockchain-infrastructure bets; the remainder skew toward healthtech/biotech and climate/deep tech, consistent with the firm's stated thesis.

The firm also runs an annual remote fellowship (most recent cohort October 2026-May 2027) that staffs sourcing and diligence work with graduate and PhD students from institutions including Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge, giving SeaX a wide informal scouting network on top of its core investment team.
Decision Process
With a Managing Partner, a Partner, and six named Venture Partners contributing domain expertise (medicine, hardware, health systems), SeaX appears to run a partnership-style process rather than a solo-GP model, though the exact voting/approval structure is not publicly documented.
Founder Preferences
SeaX's language and portfolio point to a preference for technical, often research-derived founding teams working on capital-intensive, IP-defensible "deep tech" rather than pure software plays - academic spinouts and scientist-founders feature repeatedly across biotech, materials, and climate-tech bets.
Geographic Focus
Global with a deliberate US/Southeast Asia bridge: headquartered in Millbrae, CA with a second office in Bangkok, Thailand, and over 500 corporate relationships across ASEAN that the firm positions as a go-to-market and follow-on capital advantage for its US-sourced deep-tech portfolio.
