Investment Thesis
SlateVC is a Paris-based growth venture fund focused on the energy transition and circularity. Its website frames the thesis as backing entrepreneurs who are reshaping entire industries for a more resilient, low-carbon economy. The firm looks for mission-aligned founders with global ambition and technologies that have industry-wide impact. It says it backs businesses where environmental performance is driven by superior economics, meaning lower costs and higher productivity for industrial customers, rather than climate impact alone.
The firm describes itself as investing at the heart of two shifts that define future competitiveness: clean energy and the circular economy. Securing energy, modernizing industry and de-risking supply chains are named as the defining challenges it wants to address.
Focus Areas
SlateVC organizes its focus into four themes:
- Energy Systems Transition: grid optimization and resilience, energy efficiency, decentralised renewable energy
- Low-Carbon Industry: industrial heat, industrial processes, construction processes
- Recycling & Advanced Materials: advanced materials, circularity enablers, recycling processes
- Natural Capital: water, climate risks and intelligence, biodiversity and nature restoration
Stage Focus
The firm deploys at the growth or scale-up stage, when it says execution determines which companies become global leaders. Its disclosed investments are a Series A (Epyr) and two Series B rounds (Fairmat, Resourcify). It targets European companies built for international markets.
Check Size
SlateVC does not publish a check size or ownership target. The first close of its inaugural fund was EUR 132M, which suggests tickets in the low-to-mid single-digit millions of euros up to larger growth checks, but this is inference and is not recorded in the structured fields.
Lead Tendency
The firm both leads and co-leads. It led Epyr's EUR 15M Series A (October 2026) and Resourcify's EUR 12M Series B, and co-led Fairmat's EUR 51.5M Series B (April 2025). Lead tendency is recorded as leads.
Recent Activity
- Fund: announced a EUR 132M first close of its inaugural pan-European growth fund in February 2026, a few weeks after the two 2025 cornerstone investments were disclosed.
- October 2026: led Epyr's oversubscribed EUR 15M Series A (industrial thermal energy storage, Heat-as-a-Service), alongside AENU, Daphni, WEPA Ventures, OVNI Capital and Aurum.
- 2025: co-led Fairmat's EUR 51.5M Series B (recycled carbon fiber materials) and led Resourcify's EUR 12M Series B (AI platform for corporate waste and supply-chain circularity).
The fund is actively deploying: three portfolio companies are disclosed so far.
