APY Ventures Research
Overview
APY Ventures is the umbrella brand for a family of Turkish Venture Capital Investment Funds (VCIFs, "GSYF" in Turkish) established and managed by Albaraka Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş. (Albaraka Portfolio Management Inc.), the asset-management arm of Albaraka Türk. It is headquartered in Ataşehir, Istanbul. Its stated aim is to back visionary founders and high-potential technology startups with strategic capital, know-how and ecosystem access, from ideation through growth.
Investment Thesis
The firm describes returns as long-term value creation driven by strong founding teams and technologies that solve real problems. It says it takes an active role in strategy, business-model refinement, corporate partnerships and growth. Each fund under the umbrella has its own thesis, so the platform covers many sectors rather than a single vertical. Public profiles list information technology, fintech, energy, agriculture, robotics, cybersecurity, mobility, gaming, IoT, healthcare, legal tech, edtech and materials science among its areas.
Fund Structure
The funds page lists eight vehicles: Fintech GSYF, Start-up GSYF, Bilişim Vadisi GSYF, OSTİM GSYF, T3 GSYF, Yeni Nesil Teknoloji GSYF, Ivedik GSYF and THY GSYF. Several are corporate or regional anchored funds (for example, OSTİM targets the Ankara industrial ecosystem: manufacturing technologies, robotics, renewable energy). Turkish R&D and Design Centers and Technology Development Zone companies can route their mandatory 3% investment obligation into these funds through APY Ventures, which is a structural source of LP capital. The homepage shows headline counters (fund size, number of funds, portfolio companies, sectors, follow-on rate) that render as animated zeros in a static read, so total fund size and AUM were not verified.
Stage Focus
Third-party profiles and the disclosed rounds point to Pre-Seed and Seed as the core, with occasional follow-ons and bridge rounds. Disclosed rounds on the blog range from roughly $400K to $4.7M, for example Kronnika ($400K, led), Milvus Robotics ($600K), Iletmen ($850K, led by APY), Pricing Coach ($1.1M), Denebunu ($1.8M pre-Series A), SuperGears ($2.1M seed), Mega Fortuna ($2.3M seed), Spiky.ai ($2.8M) and Saykal Elektronik ($4M).
Check Size
The firm does not publish a check size. One third-party aggregator cites EUR 500K to EUR 3M; this is low confidence and mixes currencies, so it is recorded as approximately 500K to 3M USD with low confidence.
Lead Tendency
The blog shows both led rounds (Kronnika, Iletmen) and participation alongside other investors (Buluttan with Arya VC, Onedocs with ARZ Portföy, GoWit led by Nuwa Capital, Mükellef led by Türkiye Kalkınma Fonu). The pattern is mixed, so lead tendency is recorded as both.
Portfolio Highlights
The portfolio page lists 83 companies, mostly Turkish startups. Gaming is a visible concentration (Circle Games, Tark Games, Lokum Games, Mindtail, Spektra Games, Mega Fortuna, Supergears, Gamester). Other names include Craftgate (payments), Upsonic and Spiky Ai (AI), Viseur AI (clinical imaging AI), Cendra (hospitality operations), Flowla, Rownd (desktop CNC), Saykal (mobility electronics), Gardiyan (system security), EELI Technology (lithium production), WeWalk (assistive tech), Milvus Robotik and Saha Robotik (robotics), and Onedocs (legal tech). Recent spotlighted investments are EELI, Spektra Games, Viseur AI, Mindtail, Cendra and Flowla.

Decision Process
Decisions are made by an institutional fund-management team inside a regulated asset manager, so the process is partnership or committee style rather than a solo GP. Warm intros are not required: the site has an entrepreneur application form and a [email protected] contact.
Founder Preferences
The firm highlights communication clarity, global mindset and speed in founder write-ups (Flowla), and strong teams building technology that solves real problems. Almost all portfolio companies are Turkish or Turkey-founded, with a few foreign-incorporated entities (EELI Technology Inc., Rownd).
Geographic Focus
Primarily Türkiye (Istanbul, Ankara and other hubs), with some portfolio companies incorporated or operating abroad.
Gaps
Total AUM and fund sizes were not verified. Investment dates were not confirmed from primary sources, so no dated activity is recorded and stage-at-investment is omitted for portfolio entries.
