Rittenhouse Ventures Research
Investment Thesis
Rittenhouse Ventures is a Philadelphia-based, emerging-growth venture firm founded in 2008. It backs capital-efficient B2B software, AI and tech-enabled services companies that already have market-tested products and recurring revenue. The firm says it delivers right-sized investments, deep domain expertise, and strategic relationships, and that it partners with founders from investment to exit. It frames rounds itself (capital needs, participants, terms), takes a minority stake, and sits on boards.
Sector Focus
The stated core sectors are:
- Healthcare and pharmaceutical IT (nearly half of prior investments and capital deployed)
- Financial services
- Human resources
- General business services
The portfolio matches: behavioral health EHR (Core Solutions), patient engagement (GoMo Health), telemedicine (StationMD), chronic care coaching (Cecelia Health), AI revenue cycle (Smarter Technologies), AP automation (TranscendAP), trust management (WealthHub), compensation software (HRSoft), manufacturing quality (High QA) and microlearning (Bites). There are a few outliers, such as Noble Biomaterials and Vida Diagnostics.
Stage Focus
Emerging growth. The investing-approach page asks for market-tested software with $1M+ in annual recurring revenue and a $1-3M capital raise. The July 2025 Fund III release widens this to companies with $2M-$10M in revenue, typically raising rounds of $5M or less. KickUp is listed as a seed investment, so early deals happen occasionally.
Check Size
The target initial investment is about $1M, for a minority stake. Rittenhouse reports more than $180M of equity capital deployed through institutional funds and more than 40 company investments over 20 years.
Lead Tendency
The firm says it frames rounds, and a press item describes WealthHub's raise as led by Rittenhouse. It also joins rounds as an additional investor (S2N Health, 2025). It looks like a mix of leading and participating, so lead tendency is recorded as both.
Recent Activity
Fund III closed in July 2025, bringing assets under management to more than $75M. Its first four investments were GoMo Health, Pieces Technologies, WealthHub Solutions and High QA. S2N Health announced Rittenhouse as a new investor in August 2025. Newer additions to the active portfolio page include GalenusCare and Bites (added in 2026). Gryphon Investors announced a majority investment in HRSoft in April 2026, a Rittenhouse exit. Pieces Technologies was acquired by Smarter Technologies, another exit. Tracxn lists Sena Health as a 2026 investment, which is not confirmed on the firm's site. The fund is treated as actively deploying.
Portfolio Highlights
The firm cites total portfolio exit values above $3B and about 20 exits. Notable outcomes include the Tabula Rasa HealthCare IPO (NASDAQ: TRHC), Maverick Network Solutions (Fiserv), Prosperoware (Litera), GSI Health (Medecision), Halfpenny Technologies (Accumen), Miria Systems (OSG Billing Services), Kynectiv (US HealthConnect), Haystack Informatics (Iatric Systems), ClickEquations (Channel Intelligence), Pieces (Smarter Technologies) and HRSoft (Gryphon). The firm also names AppsFlyer and Piano Software as notable investments.
